Spring's Beauty

Is anyone else tired of rain? I know, April Showers bring May flowers but...enough already! I'm pretty sure most of us are ready for nice sunny days and warm temps!
However, I do realized that even gray rain filled days have there own beauty if you just look in the right places. The photo posted here is an example of that. These are the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. This was taken one morning after a day of rain. The sun was coming out, in fact it was shinning bright on one side of the mountain but very foggy and misty on the other side. You can see how the mist was low in the valley. We, two friends and I, stopped on the Skyline Drive to watch as it danced its way up and out of the valley to dissipate in the sky, before we continued our journey to Schuyler, VA aka "Walton's Mountain".

We visited the "Walton's Mountain" Museum, took pictures of Earl Hamner's (John Boy) childhood home and visited The Walton's Mountain Country Store in addition to Waltons memorabilia I was happy to find some wonderful prim items for sale along with one of my favorite prim magazines, "A Primitive Place"! I couldn't resist the jar with prim label "The Baldwin Sisters Recipe". If you ever have the chance to visit the Shenandoah Valley, especially in the Spring or Fall, DO SO! You will not regret it and be sure to bring your camera.

Selling Space and Spring

We've been busy these past couple of weeks! A wonderful new Antique/Flea Market opened in town, (Cumberland, MD) and we decided to set up a selling <-----space for Shoo Fly Pie Crafters! So far, we're off to a great start there! Check out Past and
Present's blog

Other than that we've been happily enjoying the early signs of SPRING! We are all so ready for sunshine, flowers and warm temps! We've been enjoying some warm temps for a few days but they say we'll have some chilly days this week yet. Oh well, it is only March!

Below are pictures of two rabbits I (Darline) made and added to our selling space this weekend. They are based on a pattern from The Olde Homestead Barn. I still have one more to finish, I'm thinking about maybe making that one gray and white. What do you think? These are available for purchase at www.shooflypiecrafters.com they sell for $36.50 each plus shipping.

What's up with that??

This morning started off warm and rainy and then I looked out and saw sleet had mixed in with the rain. Now...SNOW! I'm so done with winter! Thinking SPRING --------------------->
Good news is I've gotten some work done on a couple of bunnies I'm working on. Need to take a break now and do some laundry and bake some cookies for tomorrow.
Hope everyone is enjoying their afternoon!

March 5, 2011

After talking with a new friend today, (that would be you Sue!) I decided I really need to get busy and do more with this blog thing!
Let me start by telling you a little about Shoo Fly Pie Crafters. We are three friends, Darline, Pam and Tammy, who love country and primitive crafts and home decor. Several years ago we decided to start doing a few craft shows each year. We've had so much fun doing those shows and we have met some wonderful people in the process! Taking baby steps, we have been growing and hope to continue that growth in 2011. Watch for some exciting news in the coming weeks!
